TONYA HERRIOTT-THOMAS

I was born and raised on the South Side of Chicago. I am a Licensed Hair Braider, Licensed Hair Braider Teacher, Certified Sisterlocks ™️ Consultant (2004), Sisterlocks™️ Certified Trainer Associate and a Natural Hair Care Professional.  

I have been a naturalista for almost two decades. The natural hair movement inspired me to make a big decision and cut off all of my relaxer and rock my TWA (teeny weeny afro). When I became free of chemicals in my hair, it was like I was a newborn baby. However, I didn't know how to care for my natural hair. Since social media was not as advanced at the time, I couldn't find pictures of natural hairstyles online, so I had to go to the library to do research. It was tough during that time since there were not a lot of books about our hair. One that I still have is No Lye by hair pioneer Tulani Kinard.  

I got my first set of comb coils and lived with them for a while, then started another loc Journey with two strand twists. I had them for almost two years.  Then one day I saw someone at my job with Sisterlocks™️ and it was like love at first sight.  Sisterlocks TM is a trademark company founded in 1993 by Dr. JoAnne Cornwell.  I have been a Certified Sisterlocks™️ Consultant and wearer for 20 years. I started both of my daughters with Sisterlocks™️.  My natural hair was the best decision I had ever made.  

In closing, establishing a positive experience and great consultant/client relationship.  Nurturing a healthier scalp for healthier locs! Educating clients on developing healthy hair care habits.
