Chu Emery

As a young teenager born and raised in South Korea, I dreamed of being a hairstylist. After high school, I put that dream on hold and joined the US Army. I come from a military family and it felt natural to serve in uniform. After serving in the Army for 4 years, I started my journey of becoming a professional hair stylist in 2008.

Following cosmetology school, I immediately started working at a high-end salon in Bellevue, WA where I grew as a hairstylist. I started as an apprentice and after 11 years I became a senior stylist, master colorist and an educator. I achieved my Wella Master Colorist Expert (MCE) certification and completed 4 advance stylist/color courses at the Vidal Sassoon Academy in London, UK that includes a 4 month post-graduate course.

After almost 11 years at the same salon, I felt the need for a change in direction and environment. So we packed up and moved to Austin! I worked at Jose Luis Salon at the Domain for a few months but I still felt I could do more to fully achieve my dream. That is when I decided to open my own studio - BeSpoke Hair Design & Color Studio.
