April Brooks is the Clint Eastwood of hair follicle management--she takes no guff from unruly cowlicks, accelerated sideburn growth, and certainly knows how to tame bewildered hairstyle variations. Always quick to converse, April is a charm with all of her customers. My hair--often of the 'confused' and 'unbidden' classes-is, I've learned, a feat to cut, correctly or not! Moreover, though, for almost two years now April has been able to provide an unprecedented and unfathomable haircut. I've no desire to get a haircut from anyone else, and, as I've learned, April can tell if I ever do have someone else cut it. I find myself at a loss for words to express the gratitude I have for April and her incredible God-gifted talent. She is a Master at her craft and I believe this is due in part to the fact that she listens to her clients and cares enough to take the time necessary be to be knowledgeable regarding new products, techniques, and technology. April Brooks is the only person I've let touch my hair for about 12 years, since I was 9 years old. My mother took me to several places trying to find a way to tame my very long (down to my waist) very thick and very frizzy hair while still keeping the natural curl (its very very curly) but she literally got no answer, everyone was intimidated by my hair. I have gone to April Brooks to have my hair done for something like 15 years, maybe longer. I've lost track. I am known for my hair. It's beautiful, and I'm not a boaster. I moved to Chicago about 11 years ago. After my move, I thought it was practical to establish services, such as hair, locally. I did my research and found two of the top hairstyling celebrities in all of Chicago, people with outstanding reputations, and I knew of people who regularly went to these people. OMG. I left the first celebrity with stringy, wiry hair that neither went straight nor curled. The second I left with salt-and-pepper hair, and I was all of age 39. I sat outside the salon on a stoop, called my mother, and cried. Needless to say, that was the end of that. My hair is beautiful and I am known for it because of April. The fact is that my hair is extremely difficult to do anything with. April gave me what I call a New York look, like something you only see in magazines. It is curly and bouncy and totally works with my face and my personality. It gives me edge and attitude. It is extremely easy to work with. Humidity, rain, and wind are all friends to my hair; it just gets better with such things. My name is Connie Rauch, and I live in Lima, OH (about 1 hour 40 minutes north of Columbus). Approximately 20 years ago I became frustrated with trying to find a stylist in my area that could consistently give me a good cut. Natural looking color was also a concern, as the gray strands were becoming too numerous to pluck. I have gone to April Brooks to have my hair done for something like 15 years, maybe longer. I've lost track. I am known for my hair. It's beautiful, and I'm not a boaster. I moved to Chicago about 11 years ago. After my move, I thought it was practical to establish services, such as hair, locally. I did my research and found two of the top hairstyling celebrities in all of Chicago, people with outstanding reputations, and I knew of people who regularly went to these people. OMG. I left the first celebrity with stringy, wiry hair that neither went straight nor curled. The second I left with salt-and-pepper hair, and I was all of age 39. I sat outside the salon on a stoop, called my mother, and cried. Needless to say, that was the end of that. My hair is beautiful and I am known for it because of April. The fact is that my hair is extremely difficult to do anything with. April gave me what I call a New York look, like something you only see in magazines. It is curly and bouncy and totally works with my face and my personality. It gives me edge and attitude. It is extremely easy to work with. Humidity, rain, and wind are all friends to my hair; it just gets better with such things. Complete strangers are constantly stopping me on the street, in an elevator, or at a store, saying, I love your hair! Where do you go! Everyone comments on how lucky I am to have natural curls. They're not natural. They're curls by April, which look natural. April is worth the plane trip to Columbus or wherever else she would happen to be. My name is Connie Rauch, and I live in Lima, OH (about 1 hour 40 minutes north of Columbus). Approximately 20 years ago I became frustrated with trying to find a stylist in my area that could consistently give me a good cut. Natural looking color was also a concern, as the gray strands were becoming too numerous to pluck.
